Cupping coffee is probably one of the many essential skill anyone whether a coffee buyer, barista, roaster or even a consumer can develop within the coffee industry. The foundation of cupping was developed by green bean coffee buyer for the purpose providing a consistent methodology for evaluating a coffee’s quality before determining a price on the shipment. This method requires cuppers to use a strict set of tasting protocols to assess quality.

ESPRESSO SENSORY

The espresso was once an express way of making coffee, but now has grown to be known as the heart of a café. It is the base of the latte, mocha, cappuccino and many more coffee beverages.

In this course, you will learn visual and taste evaluation. You will begin to relate and value your coffee to terms such as acidity, body, after taste and aroma. You will be able to define if an espresso is under or over extracted and taste the difference! At the end of this session you will be capable of discerning good and bad froths and how these drinks are made.

This SCA approved module will propel you in the right direction with all the skills you need to be a great barista, better consumer and even a cafe owner.

This course teaches both theory and practical - theory for your understanding and practical to ensure that you know your way behind the espresso bar. From learning the history of coffee to making latte art, setting your grinder safety precautions and customer service, this course will cover the basics.
